Ambient lighting from lampshades

Lamps and lampshades enhance
your room by turning a simple lamp into a work of art.  The size, shape and proportion of the
screen should be considered in relation to the base and function of the table
top as well as the color, style and material of the
shade.

Practical uses of
lampshades

Lampshades serve
different purposes.  Lampshades are not
just a decorative element in a room, but protect your eyes from the direct
glare of the light bulb but direct and focus the light on where it is
needed.  While adding color to your
room, they dissipate heat from the lamp.
Lampshades are very effective for filtering and scattering light to
change the atmosphere between soft and
sharp.

Different types of
lampshades

There are different
types of lampshades that correlate with different functions.  The light emitted from the top of the
shadow bounces off the ceiling to provide ambient light while the light
emitted under the shadow provides a light that focuses on the surrounding
areas.  The shade of the lamp also
emits additional light.  Light shades
let the light pass through them while darker shades tend to block the
light.  Higher cylindrical shades light
up by creating a narrow funnel of light while shallow drum-shaped shades
provide wide scattered light.
Bell-shaped shades are very popular because they provide elegant light
and are best suited for table lamps with a curved base.  Other shades are Empire shades, Coolie
shades, Oval shades, hexagon and octagonal shades, Tiffany shades and Art
glass shades.  Tiffany shades have
hundreds of pieces of colored glass in beautiful and intricate patterns that
create a style statement on your table.
In the same way, art glass shades are designed from a tempered glass
that can be shaped into any shape or design in vibrant colors and several
shades.

Match the correct lampshade
to the lamp base

The base of the
lamp determines the shape of the lampshade that fits perfectly.  A curved table lamp base is best
complemented by a bell-shaped screen.
Rounded or cylindrical bases tend to fit rounded shades.  A thin lamp base looks good with a drum,
rectangular or pyramid-shaped shade.  A
square base will be better with a square shade.  Sometimes a colorful exotic shaped bass
will look best with a simple and ordinary
lampshade.
