LAMP

The height of the table lamps
for the bedroom depends on the dimensions of the room.  A large bedroom with high ceilings and a
king-size bed holds a large table lamp next to the bed.  Small bedrooms with small side tables
require a table lamp of smaller size. 
The main factor, however, is the functional aspect of the table
lamp.  It must be suitable for reading
without glare.  If the nightstand is
twenty-four to thirty inches long, the lamp should be twenty-seven to
thirty-two inches long.  Higher lights
are good for comfortable reading.

Swing arm lamps
are good as bedside lamps because they do not take up much space on the
table.  They should be kept at the
right height.  The ideal height is
determined by the reading position, e.g. 
sitting or lying down.  The
lamps should not be so high that there is a glare on the sides.  The excellent way to determine the ideal
height is to get into bed in a normal reading position and measure from the
floor to just above shoulder height.
